FESCO Tariff 2027: NEPRA Reviews New Bill Adjustments
FESCO has formally approached the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for the annual adjustment and indexation of its Multi-Year Tariff components for calendar year 2027. NEPRA published the FESCO proceeding on 24 September 2026, making it one of the latest regulatory developments that could affect electricity charges for consumers in the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company service area.
For consumers, however, one point is important from the start: no new FESCO tariff for 2027 has been approved yet. The figures submitted by FESCO are requests for regulatory review, not final electricity rates.
What Has FESCO Asked NEPRA to Review?
FESCO’s filing concerns the indexation and adjustment of Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) components for CY 2027, along with other proposed adjustments in the consumer-end tariff. NEPRA has separately published FESCO’s request, a notice of hearing and the issues that will be considered during the regulatory proceedings.
A Multi-Year Tariff is essentially a regulatory framework covering several years. Instead of determining every element of a distribution company’s costs from scratch each year, certain approved components can be reviewed or adjusted according to the mechanism set by NEPRA.
For FESCO, the latest request covers costs connected with operating and maintaining the electricity distribution and supply system, as well as other tariff-related adjustments.
NEPRA Hearing Scheduled for October 2026
The public hearing on FESCO’s CY 2027 tariff adjustment request is scheduled for 14 October 2026 at 3:00 PM. The proceeding allows NEPRA to examine the company’s requested adjustments before making a determination. Interested or affected parties can also participate according to NEPRA’s hearing procedures.
This review process matters because a request submitted by a power distribution company does not automatically become part of consumers’ bills.
NEPRA can examine the calculations, question individual components and determine what should or should not be allowed under the applicable tariff framework.
Will FESCO Bills Increase in 2027?
At this stage, it would be premature to say that FESCO electricity bills will definitely increase because of this filing.
The September 24 publication confirms that FESCO has requested tariff adjustments. It does not represent NEPRA’s final determination.
The eventual amount paid by an electricity consumer can also depend on several elements beyond this particular proceeding, including the applicable consumer category, units consumed, government-notified tariff, taxes and other approved adjustments appearing on the bill.
Consumers should therefore avoid treating figures circulating before NEPRA’s decision as confirmed 2027 FESCO unit rates.
What Should FESCO Consumers Do Now?
For now, there is no special action required from ordinary consumers because of the tariff request. Continue checking your monthly bill and compare your units, meter-reading dates and charges with previous months.
You can check your FESCO bill online using your reference number or consumer ID to see your current bill amount, due date, units consumed and other billing details.
Once NEPRA completes the regulatory process and a final applicable tariff is officially notified, consumers will be able to see what has actually changed rather than relying on the figures originally requested by FESCO.
What Happens Next?
The next important step is NEPRA’s public hearing on 14 October 2026. After considering FESCO’s submission and the issues raised during the regulatory process, NEPRA can issue its determination in accordance with the applicable rules and tariff framework.
Until that happens, the safest conclusion is simple: FESCO has requested adjustments for its 2027 tariff framework, but the final impact on consumer bills has not yet been decided.
We will update this page when NEPRA publishes a final decision or another material development concerning FESCO’s 2027 tariff.
